Norfolk Domestic Violence Homicide Review

CWASU was commissioned by the Norfolk Domestic Violence Homicide Steering Group to complete phase II of this research project. This project aimed to examine and experience the needs of families of the five domestic violence homicide victims, and to examine the experience and needs of the perpetrators to ascertain what interventions and service improvements could help prevent future domestic violence homicides.

Evaluation of Portsmouth Sexual Assault Referral Centre

The Portsmouth Sexual Assault Centre (SARC) is a new service for victims of recent rape and sexual assault and uniquely in the UK, is housed alongside a project responding to the needs of victims of domestic violence. This evaluation will assess service user profile, case profile, criminal justice outcomes and service user satisfaction using quantitative and qualitative methds.

Violence against Women Strategy

Commissioned by EVAW, this project involves researching and producing a model integrated approach to violence against women which could be applied at national, regional and local levels. Alongside desk research, six consultations will take place with women's services. A draft strategy will be subjected to wide consultation.

Violence and Equality Paper

This paper was commissioned by EVAW for the Equality Review, to argue that violence should be a cross-cutting them in the soon to be established Commission on Equality and Human Rights. The paper is being updated to be launched at an event hosted by the Equality and Diversity Forum, and has prompted considerable reflection and debate, including on the usefulness of the concept of 'hate crime'.

Safe Migration Project: Training for Journalists about Trafficking in Persons and Migration

This project is funded by the British Council Ukraine to train journalists with the aim of ensuring they have a thorough understanding of trafficking and migration. The objective is to build skill and capacity to produce reports and stories, which are accurate, relevant and compelling whilst not recreating stereotypes of victims. The training is delivered through a combination of presentations, participatory discussion, small group work and visual media. CWASU in partnership with the BBC World Service are delivering this project.
